My friend disonnected the high tension lead #3 from the distributor cap and tried to start it, when he returned the lead back it would not turn over just cranking.

Have tried:
1) listening to the fuel pump (working)
2) Checking all the fuses if there are broken ones (all fine)
3) taken the leads and plugs out while cranking (no spark)

No sparks means you most probably have a fault with the ignition coil. When ignition coil is weak and about to fail, pulling the spark plug wires to test for sparks can kill it immediately.

Thanks KHLow2008!
Would there be a way to actually test the ignition coil? Aside from pulling the spark plug wires?

With a multimeter test the coil's primary and secondary winding resistances
