1995 Mercury Tracer running on three cylinders

1995 Mercury Tracer mileage: 118,000. The engine is running on three cylinders. When I remove, plugs the number three spark plug end was burned off. This happened twice in about three hundred miles.

Check the fuel injector for the number three cylinder; it may be partially plugged causing a very lean mixture in that cylinder. A lean mixture will burn extremely hot burning the end off the spark plug.
