What causes the check engine light to come on and the throttle to Pulse while driving on cold days?

Also engine knocks sometimes on the 3rd piston

It could be several things. If the light is coming on, there is an electrical issue somwhere on the vehicle. You need to have the computer scanned to identify where the problem is coming from. Most parts stores will do it for free.
