I have a 95 honda accord dx. Recently, my speedometer went out and my D4 (overdrive) light started blinking in any gear. The tranny shifts good and I checked the atf and it is full.

The flashing light indicates that the Transmission Module has stored trouble codes that can be retrieved with a professional scan tool. It could be the speed sensor that Ras referred to also.

Yours is pre-OBD-II so manual retrieval of codes are possible. The above link explains how.

When the speedometer fails, it usually is due to a faulty VSS and the trouble code should be Code 17 for the Check Engine Light whewrea the D4 should be Code #4..
