Suspenison problems

I have a 95 cadillac sls and its a very rough ride when im driving when i hit bumps it sounds like something is slapping and it feels like alot of up and down movement from all four tires i hear the air ride compressor kick on i was wondering if there is a way to test if its producing enough air pressure or if there could be another cause for the rough ride problem

When do you hear the level ride compressor, it is normal to hear it at start. Can this noise be differentiated to either the front or rear?
