I changed my fuel pump 2 times in the past month. And everytime I dropped my tank the gas float for the gas gauge is at the bottom of the tank. What I want to no is why does it keep falling off? Its just a arm on the end of the float and it slides in a hole. I dont know why it keep falling off? I just know im really tired of dropping my take. Ive done it 4 times now. So what do you think the problem is? I really dont see how they can go bad but do I need a new one or something or what? All the info you could give me would be really helpfull! Thank you!

When replacing pump is it pump only or assembly? Is arm and float falling off? There is a plastic keeper that the arm is pressed into on the gold box is it there?

Just replaced the pump it self. And the arm and float are connected, and the hole thing is faling off everytime I put the tank back up. And yea the arm slides in a little plastic hole, it is there.

If it just slides into keeper then it won't hold it should have to forced in. So if you want to stop droping tank suggest repace entire unit. Only way I do that job

Ok well thank you. The only thing is the first time I ever dropped the tank to replace the pump it just slided in and out as easy as it is now. And y would that go bad the same time I replaced the pump. Just a coincidence? Nothing broke off or nothing.I just amd not trying to replace the whole unit cuz I got a price on it and they want over 300 dollars. And I just paid 260 for the pump.

Try this on the part that goes through plastic use a sharp cheisel and knurl it ie. Smite it and the groves will expand size. Maybe it will hold into place and still rotate
