I have a 1994 Ford Taurus It makes a rattling or knocking noise everytime I accelerate. Also whenever it is idle it dies. Not sure if the issues are related though. Any idea what the problem could be?

If the check engine light has come on, have the computer scanned. A ratteling noise could come from an internally loose converter. That could cause it to die when you idle. Have that checked.
