When does the rumbling noise occurs?
Does it change with vehice speed?
Are any vibrations felt?
Any engine performance issues?

The rumbling noise happens at random times. The sound does not seem to change with speed. It happens more often in the morning when its colder in the after noon evening it occurs less.

Noises that occurs only when vehicle is in motion and not speed related are mostly from the suspension.

With vehicle on a level surface and handbrakes off, rock the vehicle gently to test if you are able to simulate the noise. If yes, then it should be a dry or bad ball joint.

Noise are never easy to detect unless they are there all the time so it is not surprising you are not able to detect it. Try with steering in various angle of turning to see if the noise appears. If yes, it would confirm it to be from the ball joints.
