Mazda b2600 Engine Problem

Trucks starts and runs for a few minutes with no problem. After a few minutes it will sputter and die and if you try to drive anywhere it will die appx 1/4 mile down the road. I have been told that the ecm's in these were made with sub-standard capicitors and that is probably the issue. Not sure I want to run right out and drop $400 on one without being fairly sure.
