Hello my truck is over accelerating burning a lot of gas (basically I can't burn tire) a local mechanic told me I need a new tbi unit but was wondering what else could be causing my problem on my truck

What do you mean by over accelerating? Is the engine revving and you're not accelerating? Have you checked it for trouble codes?

I mean that when I start the truck it sounds like I start it with my foot on the gas petal already and when I put it on reverse or drive it sometimes burn tire and if I let it drive by itself it will go 20mph without my foot on gas petal

Okay, the idle is too high. Have you checked for trouble codes? Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Have you checked the IAC?
