I have a 1993 Ford Escort GT with a four cylinder engine that won't start. Put in a brand new battery and have power throughout the vehicle but it won't turn over and just clicks. Is this a bad ignition?

If you're hearing a single rather loud clunk each time you turn the ignition switch to "crank", first check the large copper nuts on the starter relay to be sure they're tight. It's on the inner fender near the battery, in fact, you can follow the positive battery cable to it. It's common for those nuts to work loose.

Feel that relay to see if it is clicking when a helper turns the ignition switch.
