What could cause it to run hot! I waz told a bad ecm but I thought that was dealing with electrical stuff. When it runs hot smoke comes from the manifold but I have a new radiator, water pump, and thermostat but it runs hot just goin round the corner. I just replaced my timing chain andbit runs better but still doesnt have the power that it should have and I think thats the ecm problem.

Hello, Did you get your vehicle fixed?

If not did the over heating start before or after the replacement of Rad, Therm and WP. If so you may have air pockets in the system that need to be worked out. This will cause the quick over heat. To work out I usually leave the cap loose and run till hot then shut down for about 5 - 10 min. Top off with water and start vehicle run till hot again rev engine to about 2000 for about 2 min or till temp gauge gets about a 1/4 for red zone. If don't have gauge start vehicle rev at about 2k for 2 min then let idle. In most of the cases I have had this problem you can tell when air pocket has cleared when A/C Starts working normally as long as a/c worked normally before and you have a/c.

Also did you double check to make sure Timing was currect. Timing being off can cause same problem and the lack of power

One other thing. It is possible you have a blown head gasket. Check Oil for over full and milky looking also check for exhaust gas coming from radiator. I had a neon 96 I believe that had a blown head gasket and it was pushing exhaust gas through the cooling system.
