Fan for cooling engine

Sometimes the fan comes on when you start the engine, a next time when the engine is hot, it should come on, but it won't. What is causing this to happen?

Check and test the coolant temperature gauge switch and fan relay

I have change both, but the problem is still there. Both are good, because I tried them in another car.

Check the fan relay if okay there's a problem with the computer controlled circuit of the fan relay

Its heat calibrated (resistances) its open when cold and when hot the switch closes and transfer power to the fan motor
