The steering wheel is getting stuck when I turn for a tight corner

My car got stuck in a gutter as it was reversing out of a drive way. Now, every time I turn the wheel for a tight corner the steering wheel locks up and it takes a lot of effort to turn the wheel. It also makes a loud, low noise when the wheel is turned. What's wrong with my car!
