GMC Sierra Check engine light Problem
What type of scan tool do I need to check the codes on my truck? I have a check engine light on and I am getting poor gas mileage. I know that it is an older truck but it has run great.

You will need an OBD1 scan tool. Once your computer detected a trouble code it sets the check engine light and will run in a limp mode until you replace the sensor or part that has failed. Your truck will still run but not efficiently.
