I have a Chevy pickup with a 5.7 EFI V8 engine. It sputters when I slow down and on occasions will have trouble idling. I have checked for vacuum leaks, bad fuel and changed the fuel filter. Any suggestions?

From what your describing sounds like an EGR valve problem, maybe sticking open, could try to take off and clean, another common problem i've seen with that truck is a weak pick up coil in the disributor.

That was my train of thought as well. I have never had EGR problems before, so what is the best way to clean an EGR valve?

At work I just use some type of Mass air flow/ air intake cleaner and hold the egr upside down and spray the cleaner inside of it and let it soak for awhile, Also when you pull it off, look for any tiny pieces of carbon holding it open, have seen that alot.
