My car has a clanking noise that seems to be coming from the passenger side under the hood. It does not make the noise when you presson the gas, only at idle. And no noise when you take off the s-belt. Does not over heat fluids are fine and drives well. What should I check for? No loose pullies either

Look under the hood, can you locate the noise? No noise when you remove serpentine belt? Leave the belt hooked up. Anything that is belt driven, use a long metal bar, one end goes up next to your ear, the other end touches whichever housing your listening too. Power steering--alternator-- whatever. I place the other end on bone behind my ear, magnifies the sound for me, my hearing is no good. You just have to be careful and to get anything caught in the belt--pulleys-- fans-- anything. You have to watch you hands--clothes--the bar, everything.
