On my 90 accord, the ac stopped delivering cold air last week. It was the original R12 refrigerant. I assumed that it needed a charge after 25 years. Compressor turns but air is warm. I pumped it down, added die to detect leak, added compressor oil and recharged with R134A. Owners manual calls for 34oz. I put in about 34oz if you can really empty the 12 oz cans that are available. Still have same problem. Gauges read correctly for outside temp. Low= 45, high = 150. Not knowing a lot about ac systems, I thought if the gauges read correctly compressor was functioning correctly. Is that a good assumption? Not sure if I should add a little more refrigerant or look somewhere else? Any help would be appreciated.

When adding r13a to a r12 system it takes 80% of r12 load. This can be the blend door or heater valve if you have one making it not cool. So check other stuff first.

Thanks, Will check blend door. On your heater valve comment, I'm assuming there is a valve activated when the temp lever is somewhere other than cold? Is that correct, and any idea where I can find pix or wiring diagrams.
Thanks again for your help. BTW. I do notice the vent above the evaporator is consistently colder that the other vents, Not a lot be noticeable.
