I recent could not start the truck it will crank and turn the motor over an after it turning over sometimes 6 or 7 times it will hit so I replaced the plugs checked my distributor cleaned it up and it started fine then it wouldn't start again the only way it will start is if I hold the pedal to the flirt hit the key and if I get lucky it will hit and speed up the motor and sometimes hit again if it does this it will start enought that I can give it gas till it lines out driving it seems fine but doesn't really have a lot of power and takes a while to get it wound up could it be my coil I checked it's getting gas the float is ok all of that just doesn't wanna start

If it's a carb it may be the accelerator pump and power valve is shot due to age and alcohol in fuel damaging them. Also float can be eaten up in center so it fills with gas and won't put right amount in carb. Are ignition items ok?
