My 1976 dodge D100 pickup, 318ci, will suddenly stop running. If I restart it, it runs a couple seconds then stalls again. Could it be a defective coil or is it something else?

Sometimes. Sometimes it won't stay running long enough to drive.

Brushes eventually wear out on pumps so intermittent operation is possible.
