Do you mean you switch wires on cap or loosened distributor and turned it?

Did you remove distributor and put it back in? You have to allow 1/8 retard when doing this as the shaft rotates 1/8 when inserting into block.

I changed the spark plugs and wires and that's when it started. I have removed the distributor, But I have loosened it to try and adjust the timing ( after the original problem )
