Hello,

There is a body fuse 15 amp that has blow, replace it and your problem will be fixed. Here is a wiring diagram so you can see for yourself and a guide to help you test the fuse.

Please let us know what you find ;)

Cheers, Ken

Trunk release operates normal with remote. When ignition key is turned on, trunk release opens trunk and continues to click while trunk is open and ignition key is on. Trunk catch will not engage as long as ignition is on.

Try opening the trunk using the release switch and then disconnecting the switch from behind it. Most likely the switch is getting ready to fail completely.

Thanks for the information, but disabling the system forces me to use a key to open the trunk at any time. I prefer to pull the wire when I am driving the car for safety and then reconnecting when not driving, so that I can enter the trunk using my remote. There must be a better way to stop the ignition switch from sending the "open now signal."

If we can determine that disconnecting the switch (in the glove-box I presume) after energizing it does or does not stop the lock from being energized, we can determine whether or not the switch is faulty and requires replacement. If disconnecting the switch after using it to open the trunk causes the trunk lock to stop clicking, we can be reasonably certain it is causing your problem and that replacing it will fix the problem for you.

A very simple question. I have a 1996 Sedan DeVille. The electric gas door release and the electric trunk release both failed at the same time. I assume that they share a common fuse, but I cannot find anything labeled for these features in the fuse block under the hood. Which fuse is it?

First, a very simple check to add, the valet switch in the glove box that will disable both these features if it is in the off position.

I have a 2005 Cadillac deville. The gas door and the trunk release, both stopped working on the dash and the keyless remote. I can only open the trunk with the key, and the gas door through the emergency release

I recently acquired a 1970 Cadillac Sedan deVille from the original owner with 65,000 miles. When I took delivery, there are accessories that are inoperable. The radio, Rear DeFog, The trunk release from the glove box releases however the pull down action isn't working. Also, when I open the drivers door the courtesy lights on that door only work. When I open the other three doors all lights work except the interior lights on the inside sail panels in the rear compartment. Do you have any ideas of what could cause this?

Each piece will have to be diaged. With the year, items such as the radio may be in need of replacement.

Check for power to the radio.

Check to rear glass for broken wires for de fog.

Trunk pull down motor may be bad. Check for power.

Check all interior bulbs.

Old car, lots of problems now and in the future.
