1969 Porsche 912 Repair Question

Bad starting ,rough idling

Bad starting and rough idling.
backfires ad idle,carb and exhaust.
ad speed engine sounds OK?!

engine for 15 years no running!!!
Adjusted valves,rebuild solex carbs,new cpl distributor electronic ignition,
new sparkplugs and wires.
Cleaning fluid trough carbs to clean engine.
Compression on 1 cil low (9)rest is 11.
Noisy left bank(knocking)ad idle(cold).

Could it be loose head??or??

Do a leak down test, you may have a sticky valve.

Ok I will try that.
Still it is strange that 3e cil gives that knocking sound(cold more)
