It all started when my battery light was on. I got home turned off the car and open the trunk and the negative cable was dirty took it off and cleaned it off with a wire brush hooked it back up and tried to turn on the car and the battery died completely. I charged it for a while got it to turn on and thirty seconds later it shuts off and drains out the battery. What is happening?

Hey JR,

It sounds like you alternator has gone out,, here is a guide to help you test it. You will need to get a new battery first which is a good idea if it is over three years old.

If it does test bad here is an replacement.

Yes you will have rouge codes when the battery dies, clear the codes once it is running and see if they return.
