If you can get the vehicle scanned for trouble codes and post them on here that would be great? But other then that I would say that you may have a bad mass air flow sensor. Usually those will be classic symptoms. Vehicle will stall when coming to a stop and sometimes it will be hard to start. Problem is that when you take it in to the shop, it can take a few days for it to act up. If the mass air flow sensor is defective, I strongly suggest you buy it from Volvo. After market mass air flow sensors like Bosch are really not that reliable? Also it is very important you reset the fuel adaptations or you could get other trouble codes to come on for fuel trim problems. Just resetting the check engine light will not reset the adaptations. Usually powering down the ECM will do the trick. Good luck and keep me posted.

ANYTIME YOU HAVE AN ISSUE WITH DRIVING THE VEHICLE, ALWAYS GET A DIAGNOSTIC. IF YOU CANT FIND SOMEBODY THAT KNOWS WHAT TO DO, TAKE IT IN TO THE DEALER FOR PROPER DIAGNOSTICS. THEY HAVE THE EQUIPMENT AND THE PARTS NEEDED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE OTHER THING I SEE ALL THE TIME, PEOPLE START SPENDING MONEY UNNECESSARILY BY GUESSING AND REPLACING PARTS THAT MAY NOT BE NEEDED. YOU ARE BETTER OFF SPENDING THAT SAME MONEY INTO FINDING OUT WHAT IS WRONG.
