I just bought a volvo v40 year 98 mode mileage about 273000kml from a private person. After driving for a month, I noticed that there is always white smoke coming out of exhaust and the smoke have a very strong petrol smell. I suspect that this may be cause of my high fuel consumation. How do I know what wrong and how do I rectify it?

White smoke is usually a head gasket, black is fuel. You might have multiple problems. Have it chemical tested for the head gasket first, no sense in replacing injectors on a missing engine
