Do I have to take my Volvo back to the dealer for maintenance or can I take it to my mechanic that I have been dealing with for over 20 years.

Hi there,
Here in Australia, we can do all service work on new cars with out affecting the warranty, we can't do warranty repairs with out written permission from the manufacture (for emergency repairs only) This is mentioned in the owners hand book (in very fine print) To be sure don't talk to your Volvo dealer, they will say anything to get you there, contact Volvo customer relations, they should tell you the truth (one would hope anyway)
