Electrical problem

I recently had problems where my battery was losing power. I was told it was becasue I had a bad alternater. I made an apointment to bring the car in for replacement and the next day (before the repair) the car started to run very rough, like it is misfiring and it does not have the power it use to.
Could the misfiring also be contributing to the alternator or something else?
