1965 Other Volvo Models 200k miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
i was on the freeway doing 65, when all of a sudden the car engine downshifts itself (loses gas speed even when i pushed on the gas,) it did absolutely nothing and there i was stuck on the road. i start it back up by excessively turning the key over- it's sounding like the engines getting ready to start up it's just not going anywhere. i turn the key again this time i push in the clutch and lift off slowly-i'm accually moving- i'm manually shifting WHILE turning the key. it jumps forward. i get it in 2nd, still turning key all the way to 4th gear lifting off the clutch the whole way until it starts going again fine and the gas is letting me use my gas petal once again on the freeway. i make it!
then a month later it does it again..until it won't turn over wiithout manually shifting gears while over accessively turning the key. (i was thinking that would ruin the life of my starter- but it starts up. and still sounds like gas gets to the engine..it just won't run..i let it sit for 5 yrs.. never fixing the problem, kept the oil and radiator changed through that time. now when i replaced the battery it turns on, but doing the same engine running thing it did the last time. not going. a guy poured a lil gas down my dual weber carbs, even with the air filters still on, and it started up and idled and reved, it was alive again!!! it just wouldn't stay going....what is that! generator, fuel pump, carbs, pcv (which i've changed alot) fuel filter (which is new), spark plugs, distributor, points, contacts.etc.....i have no idea what it is![img:136f533316]http://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/212267_P1030694_1.jpg[/img:136f533316]
