Engine Cooling problem
1994 Volvo 850 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 185000 miles

I own a 1994 Volvo 850 non turbo, while driving yesterday the car overheated. I came home and let it sit, my coolant level was down so I added 1 gallon of water. I let it idle for about 15 minutes and it started to smoke. The oil looks fine but I cant find a leak and cant tell if it is the water pump or radaitor. Is ther a way to tell when either goes bad?

You notice white exhaust? Odor?

Where was the smoke coming from, how long did you drive it for once it overheated.

There was no white smoke from the exhaust and the smoke was coming from the oil dip stick and a tube that sits accross the top of the engine.
