The engine is actually a 5 cyl. (fyi)
While driving the engine will stall. If we wait 10-20 seconds, then restart, it will start up just fine and continue to run o.k. The frequency of this happening has gone from once every 3-4 months down to daily (which is where we are at now). One event that happened recently was the car lunged forward as if if briefly stomping on the accellerator. Otherwise, the car starts fine and runs good.

Have you checked fuel pump pressure? Also, has the check engine light come on?

The check engine light does not come on. Could you tell me how to check fuel pump pressure? Also, if it ends up to be a fuel pump issue, could you tell me how to remove from tank (hope not to have to remove the tank).

Here is a how to video and directions to check both fuel pump pressure and the regulator.

If the pump is bad, you may be really lucky. I believe there is an access port from inside the car so you don't have to remove the tank. I will check into that if we decide that is the problem.

Let me know what you find.
