I AM GETTING AN EXHAUST ODOR. MY MECHANIC HAS INSPECTED MY EXHAUST SYSTEM AND SAID EVERYTHING IS "TIGHT". IT IS FREQUENTLY NOTICABLE WHEN I STOP MY CAR AND GET OUT. THERE IS A QUICK WIFF OF EXHAUST TYPE SMELL. I OCCASIONALLY NOTICE IT WHEN DRIVING.

Hi there,

If your mechanic is sure that the exhaust is "gas tight" there is one place that it might be coming in. Is your exhaust tail pipe under the body or external, where it should be. If it is tucked under the body the low pressure zone of the body can suck in fumes. Also if your car is a station wagon, make sure that the tail gate seals are in good condition as the same thing can happen.
