1987 Volvo 240 tank fuel pump

How do you drop the tank to get to the fuel pump? My fuel pump has gone out in the tank and I can't get it to drop or even get to it without cutting into the fire wall in the rear of the car.

I don't know if this will help but here ya go....I have an 89 240-DL and I am having fuel issues as well. In mine (as well as in an 88, both sedan and wagons) there is an access panel in the trunk to the fuel pump so there is no need to drop the tank. Of course you have to remove or fold back the carpet, but it is toward the front of the trunk. Don't know if it is the same for your year as I am not familiar with what years Volvo changed things around. Good luck.
