What is a CVC boot and what should I expect to pay to have it replaced on a 2000 VW Passat?

Hey, I have a 2000 vw passat, and I had to have the cv joint replaced, I dunno about cvc. But if your cv joint went back, (clicking in front end while turning) it is much cheaper and easier to replace the whole cv shaft (axle assembly). I went to advanced auto, bought one for $75, and then went to a shop and had them put it in for around $75. Don't go to a VW dealer whatever you do, they will charge you upwards of $400-500. And the ones from advanced auto, some have a lifetime warranty, as mine did. Hope this helps
