Engine help!!

Cant seem to figure out the exact problem.. my 99.5 jetta cant seem to exclerate over 35mph.. and not sure what the problem is.. major help needed.. wow.. please help asap

try fuel filter possibly the MAF sensor

More info needed. What engine does the car have? If it is a 1.9 tdi the problem most likely is a clogged intake.

Is it an automatic? Manual transmission??

You know something...I just remembered I worked on one that had a bad catalytic converter. The insides melted down and caused a high restriction causing it to not want to go over 35mph (atleast not very quickly). Quick way to check this is to crawl under the car and physically hit the catalytic converter w/ the side of your fist (don't punch it!!!). If you hear a rattle...then there is your problem.
