The car will valves will make rattling noise while accelearating. This problems is not noticeable while the engine is cool. The revs seem to be limited at 4500 rpm´s and it gets a bit lower as the engine heats up.

The cooling system was flushed and the fans rebuilt. ( Both fans ) but there seems to always be a brownish contamination on the water.

I have changed the timing belt once and maybe I have gone off timing by a notch at the camshaft but I´m not quite sure.

pls help.

the engine is 2.0 liters EFI, 8 valves, AP2000 made by volks. The make is 1996.

Sounds like what you are describing is pinging or pre-detonation. If this was not present before the timing belt, then I would definitley check the timing as it can cause this.
