1986 Other Volkswagen Models California smog test
Engine Mechanical problem
1986 Other Volkswagen Models 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 133000 miles
My 1986 vw westfalia vanagon camper failed CA smog. It passed 1 year ago(only 3300 miles since) and I have not noticed any different performance since that time. At idle
%CO2 %O2 Meas HC Meas CO
1987 14.08 0.50 73.0 0 .33
1988 10.90 2.80 242.0 2.34
Should these numbers tell me something about the problem? the 2500rpm #'s were about the same. Meas CO went down to 1.40

If I am reading it right your HC very high
I would start by checking the ignition system maybe wires and or tune up
need manual CHECK IT @
