Engine Mechanical problem
1971 Other Volkswagen Models 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 50000 miles
this is a 1700cc engine, i put a new solex 1barrel carb on it and cant get to idle. what do i need to do

Does it have an idle solenoid on the carby?

yes it has an idle solenoid that is powered by coil. i wonder if i need a vacuum distribitor. mine has no vacuum hookup on distribitor

Can you feel the solenoid kick in with the power on? if so, take out and clean the passage with low pressure air, try this.
