try replacing the cabin air filter.... see if that helps any... if not, the problem is a bit more serious.

i leave that stuff to our lube tech.... on a VW it may be under your cowel- just below the wipers, on the passenger side, and if its not there, it will be behind the glovebox.... wish i could tell you exactly where, but im not 100% certain.
