Four cylinder two wheel drive automatic 124,000 miles.

Dear 2CarPros:

The car will jerk when I accelerate a little bit hard from a stop. No engine check light or other malfunction light comes on at all. It is doing this when I feel that it is changing from the second gear to the third gear. It does not jerk at all if I accelerate slowly. Here is a little bit more information about the car. The transmission fluid is for lifetime according to the dealer. The car has a distributor-less ignition system. I have performed all the schedule maintenance. I use high quality fuel all the time. Please help me about what might be the problem or where I should start to check if I decide to bring the car to the dealer.

Jay

Thank you very much for you help.

This sounds like the engine is misfiring. I would change out the spark plugs to see what happens.

Here is a guide to help you.

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers

I replaced every filter, plug and wire and air flow things I could think of and in the end it was only the engine speed sensor that had to be replaced. Once that was done she drives like a dream again.
