I have recently been to VW dealership now twice in the past 2 months to change out my thermostat, water pump, timing belt, coolant valve housing, large primary cooling fan but car is still consuming an excessive amount of coolant. It used to take only 2 days to deplete now takes 20 miles. I'm now stuck and dont know what it could possibly be. Is there something they should have checked or missed in conjunction with all these previous repairs? Anyone had this problem?

Oil is normal. I use Castrol Synthetic. I haven't noticed any white smoke coming from the exhaust.

I have a 2004 TDI Jetta with 197000 miles on it. At 30000 I noticed light on coolant low and check engine light came on which was the code for the EGR valve. The coolant loss got steadly worse. Checked for white smoke, none, checked in and under car, took it to two mechanics with no help. At 35000, I hit a deer in front and while getting fixed the guys changed out the egr valve because the check engine light was on. I never had any more coolant loss after that. Also Volkswagen sent me a recall notice on a faulty egr valve but mine was okay then so I never took it in. Also I have never been able to get the check engine light to turn off after clearing it. Hope this helps.
