Where is the oil filter located on a 2000 vw jetta gls.
my husband bought one and wants to change it but we can't find it. He was able to change the oil, but not the filter. He has changed oil filters before, but only on ford and chevy.
thanks

The oil filter is located in a small black plastic housing. First you will need to remove the plastic piece connected to the chin of the front bumper (a star fitting on a universal screwdriver if I recall). The cylinder should be in that immediate area. The filter is not your conventional one with the hard metal housing and colored rubber coating as found on most other vehicles. It is made of paper as you will notice upon purchase of the new filter. Be cautious of keeping all rubber rings in place when you take the old one out/apart.
