Hi! and happy holidays! my jetta has an occasional problem im thinking is related to the converter, even though its an automatic at times it acts like a manual that you cant push the clutch in on, at a stop it shudders like its about to die, sometimes after being parked, when put in gear it dies over and over, then it works, I did scan it and although I have forgotten the code, it was converter related, my question is, is there an electric solinoid in the converter that can be replaced? iif so is it possible with out trans removal? thanks Terry

Could be the transmission converter clutch-might want to inspect the wiring that goes to the TCC solenoid. The solenoid is within the transmission valve body.

Subject: Jetta converter question
Just wanted to say thanks for your reply to my question! im thinking the same thing about the solenoid, im wondering if its sticking, however I will inspect the connections, is it possible to replace it with out pulling the trans? otherwise the car drives and shifts great.Happy Holidays and thanks Terry

You have to remove the pan to get at the solenoid-also test out the vehicle speed and throttle position this two sends an input signals to the computer indicating throttle and governor pressure.
