Engine Mechanical problem
1996 Volkswagen Jetta 4 cyl Automatic 130000 miles

the check engine light came on. We took it to auto zone for them to tell us why and the computer said we need a camshaft sensor. But on our jetta GL, it's not supposed to have one. What's the deal?

Actually it does. Its inside the distributor. You have to replace the whole distributor to replace it.

Do you mean an ignition distributor? I've been trying to search on the net and different things come up. Sorry for my lack of knowledge but thank you for your response!
