1994 Volkswagen Jetta Idle question
1994 Volkswagen Jetta 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 126K miles
Hi guys-
I have a 1994 Jetta. I believe it's around 126,000 miles. When I stop at a light or stop sign, for whatever reason the idle drops really low for a few seconds and then corrects itself and idles fine. If I try and go while it's in low idle mode, it kills the car 90% of the time. I have to give it some gas before I take off in order for me to not kill the car.
The check engine light is on, and I believe there could be a hole in the intake hose near the air filter. I am assuming this might be the problem, but I wanted to double check. I plan on replacing the hose of course, but I wanted your ideas in case the problem could possibly be something else.
Thanks for the help!

Hello .. thanks for the donation .. much appreciated
A vacuum leak will cause a high/low idle pattern .. I wouls start by replacing the hose that is damaged !
