1990 Volkswagen Jetta 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

i have 1990 vw jetta that wont start with the key i replaced the ignition switch and replaced the starter when i turn the key on and jump the s terminal it will start but the alternator will only charge for awhile and then the stop not sure if its related.

When the ignition switch is turned to START, do you have battery voltage coming out of the Red/Bklack wire to the starter relay?

Does jumping terminal 2 and 8 cranks the starter?

Did you test the alternator main wire for bayttery voltage?

Was the alternator tested?
