I have a 1996 golf gti and when I went to check oil this morning there was a white milky deposit on the oil filler cap and I have read online that it is proably condensation and if I take it for run and warm the oil up enough it will go away as the moisture evaporates. Have you any thoughts on ths please?

Cheers
Tony

This is a dangerous time for your car, there should be next to no water in any part of the car that doesn't have coolant directly in or contacting it. These crystals can be a variety of things but can be an early indication of a bad head gasket; check your oil, if it a chocolate milk soup then you need to change the gasket, if not it has not failed yet.

Is your model turbo? If so, how much boost are you running?
