When I pull out and the rpm's reach 2,000 my car starts to bog down and accelorates very slowly even with my foot to the floor. This went on for a week and now the check engine light came on today. But when it sits in neutral it idles fine up past 2,000rpm hitting 5,000 with no stumbling or "extra effort" on the gas pedal to make it go that high. I have also noticed a muffled sound that it just started making when I try to accelorate hard. Any help would be much appreciated. thanks.
