Electrical problem
1999 Volkswagen Cabriolet 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic, 80,000 miles

Hi

I have a problem that seems to be getting worse.

When I turn off my car and pull the key out of the ignition, the battery is still on and leaves the car in accessories mode--(the radio is still on). I have to play with it until it eventually turns off by trying to turn the car on and off repeatedly.

Any thoughts you would have on this would be great and any estimates of how much this should cost to replace would be fantastic too.

Thanks!
Lucy

Sounds like it may be a bad ignition switch. Problem is that it could be something between thekey tumbler and switch that is bad as well. May want to have a shop look at it so as not to buy parts that arent needed. If it is just the switch it should only be a few hundred dollars, the labor guide pays 2.2 hours plus around 60 for the switch
