Electrical problem
1973 Volkswagen Beetle 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

Just bought a 1973 beetle, got 3 miles down the road and it started sputtering like it was running out of gas. Half mile later it died and I coasted to the gas station and put gas in. Turned the key and nothing. All the lights, radio everything works so we pushed it to get it started. It took some pushing but we got it started. Half mile later it died again. I picked it up later on a trailer and now it sits in my garage, and I cannot figure it out. Please help!
Thanks, Scott Stevenson

Check the battery and connection if okay and its cranking over and will not start do below

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it
